Hello Everyone! I’m Abiola, and I own and manage @beeolabeauty and @preownedbeautyng. I’d like to think of myself as a self-taught beauty adviser (well not totally self-taught if I learnt from Doctors and professionals lol). I get a lot of questions from a lot of people about so many skin related issues.
This first post, I am just going to state a few things and as I get more response and questions, I’d talk about them.
Please note, I am not a professional, I am not a dermatologist, I am just a woman that is interested in skincare so I learn as much and teach my self as much about the skin as possible.
So straight to the point, how do you get good skin? Easy, take care of the skin you have. See, skincare isn’t magic, there’s more than one layer on your face so you need to be really patient and consistent (anywhere from 2 to 50 weeks I tell ya!)
For beginners, the easy 3 step works, CLEANSE, TREAT AND MOISTURIZE! It really is that easy and many skincare brands already make 3 step kits. Get a great cleanser to remove dirt from the day and wash away impurities. Treat, that can be a good toner, a serum or even both. Moisturize, this is a huge deal, I hear many people say they don’t like to moisturize because they have oily skin, see if you don’t moisturize, your skin tries to moisturize itself, thereby overproducing oil, that excess oil sometimes makes people think they have oily skin. No matter what your skin type is, always moisturize.
As you become a skincare master like us, lol, your steps start to grow, I do 10 steps sometimes LOL. I put my mum on a 4 step and she’s loving it!
Asides from the basic 3-step routine, you can start adding weekly or bi-weekly treatment like deep pore treatments, hydrating treatments, brightening treatments and so on, there are tons of face mask treatments out there to suit your skin needs and there’s one for every price range 🙂
OK, that is all for the first part of the skins series, I will also list some random thoughts that come to me.
1.) Don’t squeeze lemon and put on your face, you would mess up the ph level on your face.
2.) ALWAys use a facial cleanser to wash your face after you use makeup wipes, this ensures there’s no makeup left on your face.
3.) Stop looking for a quick fix! Sometimes they cause even more damaging issues.
4.) Sometimes part of your face is darker and even your neck, that’s not always a bad thing, sometimes it is hormonal, it took a doctor for me to realize mine was hormonal, cases like that, (in my Nigerian accent) “you cannot kee yasef”
5.) Your skin is beautiful, no matter what anyone says, it is your skin and it is beautiful.
6.) I cannot tell you what product to use, I can only point you in the right direction and it is left for you to do your own research 🙂
7.) There are many ways to find out your skin type but this is easy, follow this link “SKIN TYPE”
